If I ever have to buy a car, I'll either get a used one from the 00's or look for a "dumb" one. The amount of power that manufacturers wield over our own devices that we bought and paid for these days is nauseating.

Dacia and Renault keep leadning the lists for privacy-compatible cars. Especially Dacia really has nothing that could be privacy-problematic. The only thing they have is the regulation-mandated SOS button.

I've got a relatively smart one, but I unplugged the fuse that connects the "smart" module which also connects it to the "mothership" (manufacturer).

Iirc most cars were on 3g till 2017-2018 ish, so it should be fine to get something new since the 3g networks shut down a couple years ago
