Most of us want to go back. It was a simpler and much more optimistic time. Not even 9/11 had happened yet.

There were definitely 911s here

It's from a scene in Baby Driver where a guy misunderstands getting Michael Myers masks for a robbery, he gets Austin Powers masks from the comedian Michael Myers instead of the bleached William Shatner mask the killer Michael Myers wears in the Halloween movies

Thanks for the explanation!

I had a demo disk that had only one car and map, played the everloving shit out of it. Great game

No. Suffer. Enjoy your AI generated friendslop.

[–] eru777@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

friendslop?

[–] squaresinger@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

Tbh, AI isn't even the biggest issue here. The decline happened much earlier and like in pretty much any industry it happened when the MBAs took over top-level management.

This game didn't run properly on our old as fuck pc back in the day. Most of the maps did not load properly, and were weirdly just... Pale pink. Like textures missing from all of the lvl. We learned to drive them by just looking at the map in the corner, and became so good that we even won most of the time 😁

Improvise, adapt, overcome.

Goddamn! This game was peak NFS. I keep replaying it every few years, and the handling model still holds up.

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 3 points 3 days ago

I only had a joystick when I played that. I should try it again now with my wheel. The stunt school that taught you to do j-turns and such was so good in that.

God I love this game, I played it on a XP machine when I was very young, was the first computer game I ever played. Still play it every now and them, works great on linux under lutris.

SAME! I remember my mother going to college still and bringing a cartoon CD or whatever and her bringing that game one time, one of the first games I remember ever playing, the only thing I remember playing before that is like Feeding Frenzy and Zuma. The picture gave me such a nostalgia blast in an instant :D Also, thank you for mentioning lutris, I instantly thought that it's a shame how I probably won't bother enough to see whether it works on wine or whatever, I'll probably install it rn actually :DD

The only NFS I tolerated. I even liked it a little bit.

[–] Coelacanth@feddit.nu 16 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Not even Most Wanted (2005)?

[–] Lembot_0004@discuss.online 5 points 3 days ago

Too "moderny-racey" ugly cars, as for my taste.

[–] mugita_sokiovt@discuss.online 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I personally liked MW05 and Carbon. So did my producer, actually.

[–] C8r9VwDUTeY3ZufQRYvq@sopuli.xyz 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Carbon was my peak NFS experience.

[–] mugita_sokiovt@discuss.online 2 points 3 days ago

If I'm not mistaken, it was either Carbon or MW05 where my producer had his peak NFS experience, though he had played the likes of MW 2012, Hot Pursuit 2010, and even NFS II SE from what I remember.

The last NFS that was any good, imho.

[–] Localhorst86@feddit.org 6 points 3 days ago (1 children)

NFS Most Wanted (2005) would like a word with you...

[–] Evil_Shrubbery@lemmy.zip 4 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

It did want a word, back in 2005, & to me personally it was nonsense (tbf I don't even remember what the problems were - but I'm not into arcade racing, I only liked the first NFSs & Trackmania ... maybe a few more demos, but the length of the demos was already enough for me).
But I know it had a notable community at the time, and it seems it's remembered, which is nice nostalgia stuff.

[–] MonkderVierte@lemmy.zip 2 points 3 days ago

Oof, there are 23 games?!

[–] Melonpoly@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

The music and scenery where great

[–] ZonenRanslite@feddit.org 4 points 3 days ago

I loved this NFS.

I loved this game (PC version). I recently found my disc too!

[–] FRYD@sh.itjust.works 1 points 3 days ago

I feel this, but for Midnight Club 3

I was never there, I wish I could've been there 🙁
