As much as I like browsing the Fediverse with Liftoff, RIF was just such a refined app. At the end RIF was what Reddit could have been.

I get a 429 now, sad times are here.

Long live lemmy.

Apollo is gone as well. Honestly, more legitimately sad than I expected. Mid-scrolling comments it closed out and no longer opens. I think I’d have preferred not to experience its death and it just happened while I slept lol. Memmy on iOS seems to be what I’ll move too and it is rapidly improving, but Apollo was just so damn good. Shucks.

Yeah posting this from Memmy. Really impressed with how far the app has improved in just a week to two.

So ling, RIF. You will be missed.

[–] Casmael@geddit.social 3 points 2 years ago

Yeah Reddit is fun was the og imo. Remember browsing that shit circa 2013 on my nexus 5 lol. Pour one out for the homies xx

I'll miss my RIF 😭

Hello Lemmy 😎

I am still using Apollo with my own key. But well RIP to the apps. Will be missed.

[–] StarLuigi@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I have Infinity installed with my own key, but I realized how much reddit kinda sucks so I just stopped using it overall anyways.

Can’t really stop using Reddit since I mod a university sub. But yea it went to shit for sure.

[–] briongloid@aussie.zone 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

One day your university 'sub' will be a uni hosted instance on ActivityPub, possibly Lemmy.

[–] Kururin@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I really hope that happens but for now nobody moved even when I created a Lemmy instance for them.

[–] featured@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 years ago

Good on you for trying though

[–] hexachrome@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 years ago

that sure was a neat run of a decade using this one app, massive respect to the devs!

[–] Eribetra@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Wanted to check out Sync today, I was greeted with the app repeatedly closing immediately after opening it. So that's dead as well. What a sad day this is for all of the 3rd party Reddit app devs.

[–] Kushia@lemmy.ml 0 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Sync for Lemmy is a few weeks away so at least there's light at the end of the tunnel there.

[–] Eribetra@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 years ago

Yeah, really looking towards both it and Boost for Lemmy. Both seem like great looking clients I'd use a lot. In the meantime, it's just Jerboa and Connect lol

[–] Discola@lemmy.fmhy.ml 1 points 2 years ago

Used RIF for a decade, what a sad day but happy to be here!

[–] speedy_delivery@dubvee.org 1 points 2 years ago

I have some prime real estate on my home screen that I don't want to clear, and I'm going to keep clicking on that fucker out of habit.

Sad day. RIP in peace, RIF.

So sad. I'm enjoying the fediverse so far but it just doesn't have the userbase to support the more niche communities I enjoy on reddit.

[–] Zdah@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

This is how I'm feeling right now too. I'm hopeful that the userbase will expand quickly though.
