I have no problem with it. Maybe a dedicated self-promotion community would make sense so people could post their own videos without feeling like they're spamming /c/anime or whatever. Those who don't want to see that could of course just block the community.

It is a musician, so assuming they don't flood a music community it won't stick out too much.
What happened with Alex? I’m out of the loop on that one. Did it happen here?

Basically he had a bad time with the Mastodon community.
I don't recall the actual thread, but he was discussing something he knew about and linked one of his videos. The response was shitty and to the point that they don't have time to watch a video.
I am half tempted to make a music community here, but I don't feel that I can give it the attention it needs.
I dunno, Lemmy is a pretty uninviting place generally, and incredibly user unfriendly. Just navigating the UI can be a challenge, let alone navigating the minefield of other users looking for a reason to have internet beef.
Its up to you, really, but I think it has a greater chance of backfiring than if growth occurs naturally without content creator influence.
Thanks. I feel the same way sometimes, and it helps to see someone else write that. Being able to interact with that helped me solidify my thoughts.
This place is hostile because people are fighting over influence. We need to make this the place we want it to be, and not just hope that the mods are kind.
I think I'll get started on my projects here and work it out for the best
I don't see a problem. If need be, they can create their own community, on this instance or otherwise.
If people dislike their content, they can simply block them or their communities.
If instance moderators find their behaviour unacceptable, they can be banned.
I think they would be welcomed here. Heavy murder moe vibes.
What kind of content do they create?
Marketing?
