Google maps also keeps on fucking up of the UI, or removing basic features like a simple fucking scale to estimate distance between two points.
CoMaps
Cooperative community open-source fork of Organic Maps, an offline privacy-respecting not-for-profit OpenStreetMap GPS app for your phone.
Did I miss something, what are they referring to?
CoMaps was launched after governance concerns emerged within the Organic Maps project. The creation of a new initiative was to have principles of transparency, open collaboration and community empowerment.
Here's something from today:
EDIT: And now they have deleted more, so the end now looks like this (compare the timestamps between the images and look at my phone's clock in the upper right corner):
So you're saying they're cleaning up the site?
I do not understand the question. Could you maybe paraphrase, please?
What are you trying to say with this information?
They are doing surprisingly extensive censorship in their Matrix chat. I do not know what the first deleted messages had said, but you can see there that they deleted a message saying "I wanted to reply but now forgot about the exact text you wrote. It's fine... no hard feelings. Organic Maps had a great moment when we were all together and I was happy to be part of that. I still had hopes that reconciliation was possible but the concerns were never addressed and sadly things didn't change :( Maybe in the future this may change"
Seems like a rather extensive use of the "delete comment" button. Feeling a need for that level of censorship is a bit scary to me.
I posted those screenshots because I opened their Matrix channel, saw this conversation going on, and was surprised. I had previously ever been active on that chat for 10 minutes only, some week ago or so, and when opening it again I saw this kind of crap going on. And felt like it's something that should be shared for others to see.
This was the open letter they posted (I'm not particularly familiar with the situation, but read through a bit of it when they announced the fork): https://openletter.earth/open-letter-to-organic-maps-shareholders-a0bf770c
