Here, between the spring and summer flowers we have a few weeks with not a lot of nectar bearing flowers, so for the insects I let the columbines grow where they will in my garden, because while short-lived, their flowering fit exactly in this spot. Also they require little work, they will reseed themselves and grow where they like it.

This time a bunch grew where their last flowers would harmonize quite well with the first peony, making me look like an awesome gardener who planned this all out before ๐Ÿ˜

Ours started opening up this weekend as well! We planted one last year that my wife found on clearance after finding an ant colony nearby. The goal was to shift the colony further away from the house and it worked! We saw ants crawling all over the bud sites a few weeks ago!
