A place to meme about the glorious ROMAN EMPIRE (and Roman Republic, and Roman Kingdom)! Byzantines tolerated! The HRE is not.

RULES:

  1. No racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, bigotry, etc. The past may be bigoted, but we are not.

  2. Memes must be Rome-related, not just the title. It can be about Rome, or using Roman aesthetics, or both, but the meme itself needs to have Roman themes.

  3. Follow Lemmy.world rules.

Not sure where to start on Roman history?

Also, though they don't have quite the reputation of ancient Greece, Rome was quite sexually open until that whole Christianity thing came along and ruined all the fun for the world for the next 1600 years or so. So to freak out a Roman would have to be some really fucked up shit.

Yes and no.

For male homosexuality it wasn't seen as bad to top another man, since it was a position of power.
To be on the receiving end though? Not so much accepted and seen as shameful.

And misogyny was already strong in Roman culture even before Christianity came. I can't remember ever reading about female homosexuality in Roman times.

So since the comic is about female on male kinky stuff, the woman better submit to the Roman to be accepted back home in Rome.

I can’t remember ever reading about female homosexuality in Roman times.

There are intermittent references, but it was never as 'focused-on' as male homosexuality.

Explanation: "Goths" in the modern day are people of a specific aesthetic subculture.

"Goths" in the 4th century AD were a roving group of Germanic tribes which, at various times, allied with and against the Roman Empire.

Goth seems to be very loosely used anymore, around the time craving a Goth GF got popular.
