So today I was just sat in my room watching some TV. My mum came in to talk to me and she went on some massive rant about something her sister did that annoyed her.

I was listening to her fully, put my phone down to give her my attention and paused the show I was watching. I was agreeing with her and also wanted to make a few points of my own, in order to you know… have a functioning conversation?

I began to speak about something that had also annoyed me (in relation to what she was speaking about) and she cut over me, shouting and ranting still not listening to what I was saying. I tried to speak again and she tried to finish my sentence for me, before then continuing to rant and rave about what she was saying.

This is when I began to get annoyed, because she finished my sentence for me but didn’t even get it right and she was way off about what I was trying to say.

I calmly told her, “can you please not interrupt me and finish my sentences. You get upset when others do that to you.”

She then started huffing and puffing saying “i guess i just won’t talk to you then, clearly you aren’t listening!” and walked out of my room.

I then just got tired of the whole thing so quietly closed my door behind her and continued watching my show.

This is when things got very heated.

She came back up into my room, screamed profanities at me and called me a large number of cuss names, before telling me never to speak to her again. Then she starting throwing things about on the landing / other bedrooms causing a racket , still screaming things about me.

I began to cry because she always does this and she makes me feel like everything is my fault but maybe it is?

AITA for telling her to stop interrupting me? was it a harsh thing to say??

BTW i’m 18
