I'm not much of a media consumer, and when I am I find Youtube channels better exemplify the simple living lifestyle (plenty out of Japan). However, every once in a while I stumble upon characters or plots in mainstream media that resonate with my simple living values. Years ago, I truly enjoyed the film Under the Tuscan Sun (though the book was vastly different and superior). More recently, I have been enthralled with the television series Somebody Somewhere.

What series or films do you enjoy that best encapsulate your simple living ideals?

The Good Place

Oh, and everything Dick Proeneke, Bob Ross, Mr Rogers etc.

Dick Proeneke was amazing.

Alone in the wilderness fucked me up from childhood. I always thought I would live like that but maybe with a wolf or a hawk but nah life was all lies and bull shit.

Proeneke was a Hell of a good guy though. Found a copy on DVD a few years ago and watch it a couple times a year

You're asking for the movie "Perfect Days".

Reading the plot, is say you're correct

Well, that’s just.... like... your opinion, man.

I think Joe Pera Talks With You might fit this. He loves stuff like things that help people fall asleep, making a bean arch for his bean plants, and takes you through what he enjoys most about the grocery store, for example. It’s a pleasant, subtly funny, and gentle show.

Ok, a half serious suggestion.

Trailer Park Boys. Season 1-6 in particular.

The only truly valuable thing is the friendships and connections they make. But I also don't know much about this community other than a very quick glance
