Got excited thinking they had finally fixed the rendering bug that causes the UI to slow to a crawl on desktop GPUs on Linux, but no.

[–] Fubarberry@sopuli.xyz 18 points 1 month ago

If it's the bug I'm thinking of, you can get around it by disabling hardware acceleration for web views in the desktop client.

Still annoying though.

They did fix that a while ago though?

[–] LiveLM@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 month ago

It's inconsistent, I still get it once in a while

Are you referring to the issue where Gamescope causes massive lag on nvidia GPUs?

[–] koncertejo@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

May be a group of bugs, I'm still struggling with it on my 6700 XT.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Maybe the printer is disconnected ?

Valve is such a chill company imo

Why can't Gabe take over the US government.

Anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job.

With Valve moving SteamOS and the Steam Deck's Game Mode UI to support other handhelds like the Legion Go S, and maybe even Desktop at some point, it makes sense why they would be changing this. (emphasis mine)

Isn't this what Big Picture Mode already is?

[–] Swedneck@discuss.tchncs.de 9 points 1 month ago (1 children)

i'm presuming it'll be big picture mode but less shiiiiiiit

like yeah big picture mode works well enough but it's definitely rough around the edges, for instance it doesn't much like it when you switch to and from steam in big picture mode.

[–] Kaarle@sopuli.xyz 5 points 1 month ago

Pretty sure it'll be the same as with Steam Deck: The Big Picture UI running inside Gamescope.

It's already possible to do that on other Linux distributions manually.

Yeah, give it to me, baby!

Uh huh! Uh huh! And all the vendors say he's pretty fly, for a Valve guy
