Man that article headline is awful! Had to read it three times and it didnโ€™t click until I actually read the article!

By the sounds of the rumbles the teams are still not happy about thinning the prize money though?

Money talks and Liberty have plenty

This must be the new clickbait trend..

cause so much confusion that people have to click to read more

This is just approval by the FIA. Formula 1 itself also needs to approve it, and a lot of teams don't want to accept a new team since it dilutes the money prizes for the constructors championship.

That's just negotiations in progress I think.

Liberty Media would benefit from a truly American team, Andretti has some clout I guess.

Was the theoretical case of FIA approving and "Formula 1" (FOM?) Not approving the one where they'd technically be allowed to race, but them racing would not be allowed to be broadcast?

How does the money division work for constructors? I would have thought adding an 11th team would just mean whoever comes dead last gets nothing

Thatโ€™d be a problem for the existing teams. Theyโ€™d risk coming last and not getting any prize money.

Itโ€™s a stupid system. Participating teams shouldnโ€™t have control over who theyโ€™re competing against.

That is the situation, the problem with that is: if Andretti/ Cadillac come in and do well enough to score 9th or 10th then either Williams or Haas get no money and likely go out of business. Whereas currently 10th place gives them just enough to stay alive

I suspect it actually means redistributing the season payouts over 11 teams instead of 10. Otherwise it would be impossible to fund the teams that come in 11.
