Hello new Lemmy friends!
Word on the street tells us our community is regularly making it the all page. While this is very cool news to hear, we can see how the sudden emergence of our posts in your feed might feel jarring and probably raises some questions. And also how, without knowing the backstory, our community might appear less than virtuous, so here’s a very brief introduction which hopefully will clear a few things up.
The woman we’re discussing is a body positive influencer and media personality who has gained fame and wealth by lying, manipulating, exploiting her children for content, plagiarizing BIPOC creators and blaming her BIPOC content editor for it (thereby ruining her career), among other things. Her fraudulent behavior is no different (I’d argue worse) from the likes of Jay Shetty (google him if you don’t know who he is or what he did). She’s the latest in a long line of grifting influencers who are abusing their power, taking advantage of their position and exploiting their followers. The difference is that she’s Canadian. Our laws around social media and advertising aren’t as clear (and where they are she’s disobeyed them), add to that, our mainstream media has protected her from those who’ve tried to expose her grift and silenced/intimidated anyone who’s tried to speak out.
Our Reddit sub was taken down due to reports of copyright infringement, which is unfounded and categorically untrue as no one ever tried to steal her work and pass it off as their own. The mods have made an appeal. While at first glance it may seem like we’re just “shitting on her” the sub has been more devoted to investigation and posting proof of her lies than just bitching for the sake of bitching. The reality is that she’s hurt, manipulated and let down a lot of people. She stole intellectual property and employment, caused mental distress and has repeatedly told lies to boost engagement and profit off her audience, so people are understandably upset that their voices are being silenced.
We’re grateful to have been welcomed so kindly by so many of you, and to those sticking around to watch the drama unfold, we’re glad to have you!

I always notice that when Sarah’s BFFs do things she always delays her praise. This meanest of the mean girls manipulates every person around her. Everyone shouting out Briony but no mention from Sarah. But somehow these friends are always serving her but we never, ever see her doing a kind thing for anyone, let alone her own family!
She’s to busy on the shitter taking pics with her pants down around her ankles.

They changed Cheer teams! Wouldn’t be surprised if it was strictly so they could get an opportunity to get to Disney for one of the large Competitions they do.

If anything, she will try to stand by "I didn't say anything because I am not American", but again, that will show her uneducated, white privilege. If she knew anything about anything, she would realize that the same rhetoric is seeping it's way into Canadian politics and we are in danger of far right taking cover the country, just because people don't like the leader we currently have. Many of the same things are at risk - including women's health care rights. She is a mother of daughters and she really needs to open her damn eyes. If you're going to have your phone in your face all day long, as least educate yourself with it.
THIS!!! I’m sure she doesn’t even realize we have our own Trump like issues here because all she cares about in life is Disney and buying more crap to clutter her house with. I get sometimes people feel better just avoiding these things but I’m sorry when it’s as big as this you just can’t ignore it especially as a woman, a woman with daughters, if you care about the LGBTQ+ community, people of colour, etc. she literally stands for NOTHING except teens treat or treating rights and it’s pathetic. She doesn’t deserve her platform at all if she’ll never use it for good. I’d rather lose followers because I stood up for what I believed in instead of sitting on my hands afraid of what will happen when I show my support for people who need my support.

Her privilege is really showing today. While so many millions of people are terrified for their lives and future right now, here’s Birdie bragging about jetting off to 4 different places including two places in the States which she has shown ZERO concern for over the election.
She needs a reality check SO BAD. But she keeps getting everything handed to her and she’s so coddled she’ll never get that reality check at this rate. She just keeps skating by, not giving a shit about the world around her and getting everything she wants for free. It’s sickening to watch.

All that crusade about teenagers trick or treating and she couldn't be bothered to take her small child out. Instead, she stayed home to be fauned over by children. Did her own teens even go out?
On that note, I picked my daughter up from HS yesterday to take her and her friend trick or treating and 90% of the girls were dressed up. Lots of clever and homemade costumes. Shrek, Juno, Doctor Phil, memes. My kid and her friend also made theirs. It gave me joy (I didn't cry about it though lol). I saw soooo many teens out last night and nobody batted an eye. I don't know what she's going on about.

I truly don’t feel it’s done as well as she’s pretending. Not a single post on the IG since April. Not a single hashtag on IG from guests trying to brag about staying there. The only hashtag is from the web designer. Looking at Air BnB , there's 4 reviews. I think ONE is from somebody who actually stayed there. 2 is about the host who is actually doing to leg work for bookings and one is from her friend. From the late launch, the “contest”, which we didn’t hear anything about after her announcing it, her own family time up there…there was only a limited time to choose from. When I looked in June, just out of curiosity, there was still lots of openings available.
I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s faking it about how well it’s done. His silence was deafening about it the entire summer. She loves to brag so you’d think she would’ve bragged about the place all summer long but total silence 🤷🏻♀️

Influencers are all about driving consumerism (thank you for making it so hard for some people to live) and unrealistic standards for woman around hair and face. Sarah’s travel bag here was either gifted or a splurge after she shilled her own design to her followers - just to make money. I know it was a couple of years ago that she did the bag with Poppies and Peonies but she never used the bag herself. Idiot. She banks on woman spending their last 100$ on things she designs or recommends with out a care for their well being. She’s a snake.

Lazy hobby mom says good morning from her bed when she’s been away for a week and everyone else cares for the kids and home. She’s hardly seen L but still lays in bed posting for her career job and making more content instead of cherishing some special time with her. Shane’s been putting her to bed every night and this morning instead of letting him rest she plunks back in bed. She is so selfish. My bet on their big fun day is heading to the mall to buy L’s love.
It really makes you wonder if she bursts into tears or gets violent when someone tries to ask for more support at home. Nothing bad has ever happened to Sarah, why is she so catered to? Shane has to have zero gumption to live this kind of life - money or not. I come from a very large family so many in-laws and from the in-law side there is always a hesitation to use the grandparent in-laws. I don’t think much of any of them but Shane has to feel like an ass passing of his kid while his wife is away playing.
It's shocking how she treats L. She's not a mother. She birthed a kid for attention and fame and then discarded the child. Anyone who questions her is attacked with a barrage of guilt; SHE never got to do "this" before. Sadly, she isn't leaving L for a career or work. Attending movie premieres, parties, and football games isn't work. She's not paid to post about these activities. She's given these activities in exchange for posts. That's not work; that's fun and partying. She's not a CEO; she's never been one. The only thing she's built is a massive lie that pays. The most significant payment that enabled her to live this life came from Knix. This payment gave her a lot of money and access. Knix bought her a reputation as an empowered woman. Brands that need more marketing intellect followed suit. The result has been more power and prestige for Sarah and more landfill garbage for humanity: shelves stocked with merchandise that doesn't sell, events that no one attends, photoshoots for vanity purposes only, BS parties. Sarah is an empty vessel who churns out garbage content in exchange for attention and perceived superiority. L is just another prop. The kid doesn't even rate as high as Sarah's skinny Walmart mirror.
This woman values nothing but herself. Ever. Sarah is the main character in her story and the rest are just side bars and props.
