In Taiwan, we have CEMENT slides. It's always always cool to the touch, kids are not going down it at terminal velocity and it doesn't generate any static electricity.

Why not make one out of sand paper while we are here?

No, it's just polished. Epoxy would just rub off over time. With cement, it just gets more smooth with more use.

They also don't break down like the plastic or metal ones so some of these structures are like 15+ years old. I saw one that was like 40+ years old that was just made on a hill.

Well cement will wear down to the aggregate (the little rocks), which will wear at a different rate. Maybe they use a mix without it.

Ya, no rocks. Next time I take my kid to the park, I can take a photo of the older slides. It wears are noticeable . It's quite an amazing idea to use cement.

Metal slides > plastic slides. Even when wearing shorts on a hot day. Anything was better than the god damned static shock.

We had a park that was all wood out here. When I was a kid, it was my favorite park playground. They removed it some years ago because kids could get splinters. You know what we did if we got splinters when we were there as kids? We'd pull 'em out and keep on playing!
