Especially true if the core of Mars hosts a hidden imprisoned Void Dragon that can control their tech with clandestine whispers and be known as the "Machine Spirit"

That was always just an arbitrary literary device in fiction and a game balancing mechanic in TTRPGs. Unless they had a proper points based system like GURPS.

Unlike GURPS though, they probably didn't have their offices raided by the FBI because the jackbooted thugs were too stupid to understand the difference between fiction and real life.
