Arguably I understand what happened - he somehow expected government to function as it should. He did his investigation as he was supposed to. Bar intervened, and made it seem like there was nothing to see.

He definitely should have done a full media blitz after that though and explained everything he found.

He did what he was supposed to and delivered the evidence is an objective, neutral manner. It was congress, particularly the GOP, that (intentionally) fumbled the ball after.
