I haven't been. I felt too burned after what they did to GoT to jump back into that world. If HotD ends up being pretty good, I think I'll check it out later.

My then-girlfriend (now-wife) and I watched GoT from beginning to end as each episode came out, and even though that show ended up being a disappointment, there are still some very fond memories of us overly eager to plop down together and tune in. HotD brings us right back to those days. While we both think it’s a great show so far, we’re on guard and I guess we’re willing to get burned again for the nostalgia.

Good to know thank you!

The first season is as good as the early GoT seasons. The first couple episodes are different as they are more of a prequel.

The directors really did squander the whole franchise with how they handled it. People were naming their kids after characters, "Winter is coming" became commonplace and merch was everywhere. Then seemingly overnight after those last two seasons it's all gone. I feel if they'd bothered to give it any time and care it'd have had the same staying power in our culture as Harry potter, lord of the rings, and star wars.

Only one episode out so far so hard to tell, but a moment from the book that I had been excited about ended up being done in a very anticlimactic manner with it lacking same emotional impact.

Yeah that bummed me out big time. My girlfriend, who never read the book, was pretty shocked by it and found it impactful, though. I really wish they had stuck more to the framing of the choice in the book

I watched half of the first episode of season 2 then realised how utterly disengaged I was feeling, and so stopped there.

I suppose there's still some lingering resentment of the final season of GoT which is making me feel reluctant to invest my time in this.

The first episode was good, I watched it after episode 4 of the Acolyte. The writing and acting are so much better in HotD. It's hard to say how good it will be as the first epsilon mostly established thread for future episodes.
