Bad wording, of course people want him to stop it. Not criticizing him for doing nothing maybe.

[–] PugJesus@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

No, like people saying "Biden could stop this today with a phone call if he wanted to"

[–] blazera@lemmy.world -5 points 1 year ago (2 children)

He probably could, netanyahu would have a hard time saying no, for one good reason. We're supplying the weapons and money, we can end his resources for the genocide with or without his say.

[–] PugJesus@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago (2 children)

He probably could

And yet you also think

No ones criticizing him for not stopping it

If you think he is capable of doing so, why wouldn't the criticism not only exist from others on the left, but also be warranted?

You actually just got this person to call themselves out without them even knowing.

Bravo!

Did you just entirely gloss over my response about bad wording

[–] PugJesus@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Bad wording, of course people want him to stop it. Not criticizing him for doing nothing maybe.

If I'm off the mark, what IS this trying to express? In 'good wording', if you will.

The second sentence?

Sure. What does "Not criticizing him for doing nothing maybe." mean?

[–] blazera@lemmy.world -2 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Hes not an innocent bystander thats not taking action to stop this genocide. Hes taking action to cause the genocide. If he did nothing instead the genocide wouldnt have the funds and weapons to do what its doing.

[–] PugJesus@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Then you agree that there are people are operating under the delusion that Biden can stop the genocide with a snap of his fingers and are criticizing him for that, making your original objection to the guy with a smiley face avatar utterly pointless.

[–] blazera@lemmy.world -3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

No theres people accusing him of facilitating the genocide.

Like people arent protesting in Japan that their Prime Minister isnt stopping the genocide.

No theres people accusing him of facilitating the genocide.

There's also people accusing him of not stopping the genocide.

Like people arent protesting in Japan that their Prime Minister isnt stopping the genocide.

... do you think the Prime Minister of Japan has the power to stop the genocide?

[–] blazera@lemmy.world -3 points 1 year ago

Just aint gonna get away from my bad wording. People are calling for him to stop the genocide in the sense that him doing nothing will stop the genocide. Like a serial killer can stop the murders. Its different than saying police didnt do enough to stop the murders.

They’d absolutely have the funds and weapons to do what it’s doing.

[–] GBU_28@lemm.ee -1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

They have nukes. Netanyahu has leverage.

[–] intensely_human@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Nuclear weapons don’t really provide room to maneuver when you’re on the phone with the US President, unless you’re willing to threaten a nuclear strike on the US.

[–] GBU_28@lemm.ee 0 points 1 year ago

Obviously Israel isn't threatening the US. They're threatening Iran
