It's kinda ironic that all the source parts links are for Amazon in order to build a device which doesn't use Amazon, but I suppose that's just the most readily available resource :-)

Great concept though. I honestly hate most "smart" doorbells but a homebrew one sounds like a cool idea

It's because the author (OP) gets money when people buy those parts using those links (as the links have the tag=thatguy0ec-20 parameter in the query string).
