As someone who doesn't know much about Mormons, in what way does it effects his writing?

I don't have specific examples, but he's said it affects his writing himself. However, I have a lot of similar experience with how the LDS cult works and friends who were raised in it, and with that I can't reasonably trust anyone who aligns themselves with that religion.
