The Black Mirror plot about AI that worries actors
(www.bbc.com)
This is a most excellent place for technology news and articles.
I thought the episode was so-so, especially compared to the two after it, but yeah it did age very well very quickly.
Agreed with it being so-so compared to the two after but also prior seasons and episodes of Black Mirror. This episode reminded me of an episode I watched of “Extrapolations” on Apple TV (the ep with Marion Cotillard) in that it was a great idea but the execution of it felt off.
Did you feel that it's so-so because it's way closer to reality than other episodes?
Not really. It just felt a little too "out there" in my opinion compared to other Black Mirror episodes. I imagine those who didn't like the Ashley Too/Miley Cyrus episode had similar complaints with Season 5 in general.
It's not the worst episode though. U.S.S. Callister takes that crown for me, there was a glaring plothole with the way the DNA transfer worked. How did the memories of the people whose DNA was collected transferred?
Dude they have tech that streams directly into their brains. Probably just made a cookie from a scan from one of their game button node things.
There was just something about the episode that didn't grip me tbh, but it wasn't because of it being closer to reality. I'm bad at articulating that sorta thing outside of music lmao.
Joan is Awful seemed like the most realistic to me of this season. A couple episodes this season were basically fantasy instead of sci-fi.
I actually thought the one after that about the murder documentary was more realistic. More on the drama side of things than a sci-fi but still very Black Mirror.
Oh yeah I forgot about that. It was basically normal.
