Honestly, with how the settings timelines are dictated by heros and divine lineages id actually figure every major event that doesn't go as expected means a figure of legend has influenced it in some way or another.
So when it comes down to it, whoever you choose is kinda unimportant, as neither side seems very prepped to deal with the dragon threat without the dragon born, and Parthanax is unlikely to hold the dragons back from their dominating nature forever.
I just look forward to smashing the Dominion when the time finally comes
