I heard it doesn't localize prices as great and that's the only actual criticism I can physically think of.

They do, but their regions are not aligned with Steam, so for a lot of people in many countries, it's 3-4 times more expensive than on steam.

It does not matter for AAA titles, as those scumbags charge the same price across all regions in steam anyway.

But for many mid tier and indie games, it's a tough ask to get someone to pay 10% of their monthly income for a game they can get for 3% of their income on steam.

It's the only thing stopping me from buying on GOG

I would have guessed the regions to be universal standards. Are they not?
