I've always felt the pull of the arts, directly flowing from my mother, a professional photog and hobbyist artist (oil, watercolor, pastels, etc).
Me, I absolutely suck at math, but one time I managed to construct a nicely-fitting-together wooden dice box for my AD&D needs. It was embossed with a piece of thick leather, in which I designed a picture of a noble stag (deer). Now, I think the impetus upon all that came from a short workshop I was attending, but the instructor was blown way by how much farther I'd taken things than everyone else.
At first I was like Scooby Doo-- "ruh..??", but it later hit me-- my mom had unintentionally gotten me started upon fine arts, and it somehow resonated with my DNA. Or something like that.
Anyway, yeah, I used that dicebox faithfully over the years, and of course eventually lost it in a major house move. ๐
It's a treasure chest now, I'm sure someone is happy to have found it.
