hej 👋🏼 I'd like to suggest a few books to the book club I'm part of. For the next month the keywords are "spooky, mysterious, suspenseful, dark, scary, ominous, gothic", and since lately I'm discovering asian literature (mostly korean, chinese and japanese) but I'm not familiar with the forementioned genres, would you give me a few titles, perhaps also with your reasons why? I'd appreciate it a lot! thank you

I heavily recommend The Blind Owl by Sadegh Hedayat. From Wikipedia:

Persian novella by Sadegh Hedayat that is about an isolated, unnamed narrator who recounts his obsessive love for an enigmatic woman and his gradual descent into psychological fragmentation, conveyed through a dark, hallucinatory narrative in which reality, memory, and nightmare become indistinguishable.
