They don't suck. The people leaving their cars everywhere suck.
Every tow that's not an abandoned vehicle, obstructing a roadway/driveway, or you called yourself is a predatory for profit venture.
The worst ones will illegally tow your vehicle and hedge the bet that you'll pay a few hundred dollars to avoid court and to have your car back. If a tow company steals your car through an illegal tow cops will just say its a civil issue and won't help.
If you have ever been hit by one of those predatory tow companies your tune would change. I was parked at a friends apartment complex WITH a visitor pass and they still towed me, then charged me $400 release. Cops wouldn't do anything and it would have cost more to sue than the $400 and they know it.
I got towed by one of these pricks in Alaska because the “You can’t park here sign” was completely buried under snow. Also, there was absolutely no reason for people not to park there.
