Yeah they do. ime there's not as much emphasis on what Japan did to the rest of Asia as there is what Germany did to the rest of Europe. And there's absolutely no mention of unit 731 or comfort women or the rape of Nanjing or similar atrocities. But it's absolutely taught that Japan was an axis power. Where in the world is that not known? Be for real.
Yeah, I wouldn't say it's not mentioned either. Japan is talked about as an enemy of the Allies, but its crimes are rarely if ever spoken about since the victims weren't white Europeans.
most of the nazi crimes are ignored or even justified in the west as well. seemingly, only the jews are considered human enough to deserve empathy.
IIRC a book I read by Holocaust historian Donald Bloxham, most Americans had neutral, positive, or no views at all of the nazis for most of the 50s and 60s. It seems a lot of people hadn't even heard the term used until the schmaltzy TV drama "Holocaust" aired in 1978.
