Came across this community in my feed, and after browsing a bit I'm intrigued.

As an "outsider", I would have assumed this place would be about enjoying a childfree lifestyle, but it seems to be more than that.

For example, I see lots of posts and comments that seem to allude to extinctionism: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voluntary_Human_Extinction_Movement

That caught me off guard since I figured this place would be more like "look at all this free time and money and freedom I have to enjoy my life to the fullest in any way I want". Now I'm curious.

It seems like there's a whole spectrum of ideas that are getting lumped into the same bucket. What's your take? What brought you here?

Depression for me is a natural and justified reaction to this awful reality and not something I think I can or should "fix." Having depression doesn't invalidate my views. I'm not who is broken, so there's nothing to fix. Most people bury their heads in sand and deny the really dark nature of life and death in general. ~85% of humans are theists just for starters.

Not just referring to humanity but the nature of all life, the finite and mortal solar system, and the Universe. I don't call myself antinatalist however because it's an empathy response and a personal moral philosophy for me to not bring children into this world.

I'm not telling others what to do, just explaining my views if asked. Unfortunately, the toxic loud mouths in that community who use the label, who are the majority sadly, don't care about the philosophy or empathy. They just want to hate, judge, and lash out and glom onto anything negative. Or karma farm with lazy rage bait if it's reddit.

If you want to know the actual philosophy, read David Benatar's book yourself instead of second hand rambling by pharisees. They didn't read shit beyond lazy image macros on reddit before calling themselves antinatalist. No better than Facebook Boomers "doing their own research."

If I'm projecting anything it's autism which is likely why I am at all capable of seeing what I see when I look at the world, and depression is a response to what I've discovered.
