I expect to see a hydra effect on the other end as well. Twitter's trying to shut down the proxies with legal threats. When that doesn't work, they will use technological measures like requiring you access it from an official mobile app with remote attestation. When (not if) all of the circumvention exploits are patched, there will be absolutely no means by which even the most well-meaning people (like archivists/preservationists and academics researching social media) can access Twitter in the way they need to to do their job.
