There are not two sides; there are a loud, well funded and connected fringe group who are trying to rip apart a healthy democracy out of greed using mostly fear as their tool, and on the other side adults trying to solve problems. The well funded fringe group will claim they are the victim, as they did in the US.
While giving different points of view consideration in a debate is critical, TV and the Internet do a poor job of proportionally representing bad faith ideas. The fringe group, because of the nature of advertising and drama they angle for, get far more coverage than they should.
I watched this same playbook tear apart the US in just a few decades. Hope your people and democracy and institutions are stronger and not so naive as to think it can't happen to you.
Yes I'm incredibly frustrated that the federal government here is focused on appeasement.
