I don't recall any point in time where I had any interest in fountain pens. I was born well after the time of the fountain pen, and there weren't any relatives in my family that had any special attachments to fountain pens.

They're addictive to write with - especially with the variety of nibs available. Then you get into ALL of the inks! Every color of the rainbow. Shading, sheening, shimmering. Those that start out one color and oxidize dark. Then, if you have the financial wherewithall, there are the prestige, $$$$$$ pens. The habit can be whatever you make of it.
