Because Britain is saner, there’s no such thing as “jaywalking” and pedestrians always have right of way, unless they are specifically banned by the type of road.
You don't have right of way if you just run on the street. That's called attempted suicide.
Even then.
I know, and I hate jaywalking too. I'm just applying to them what they apply to us. It's only fair. If I was doing that same thing (save the spikes) and got run over, I'd still be (partially) blamed for it.
