there is no universal peak thing. even with yourself.

when i was still in HS, i watched an anime (k-on) because people were raving about it. it was meh for me. fast forward to adult me and i rewatched it out of a whim and it makes me cry. mostly because it was covid and i was quite lonely. it remind me how life was, i can relate.

I wish everyone can find peak things in their life and be reminded that life is good.

Say you haven't watched Twinkle Nora Rock Me! without saying you haven't watched Twinkle Nora Rock Me!, fake fan.

I have to be honest chief, I have no idea who that is.

For context, I own a LaserDisc Player, and a good amount of anime OVA LDs. I saw Twinkle Nora Rock Me "before it was cool," probably. Its just a joke after all.

Oh, damn, my mistake. You're definitely a rarity in the anime fandom, then. I only know of Twinkle Nora Rock Me!, Chargeman Ken, and other similarly notorious anime from the 70s and 80s because of this one youtuber Kenny Lauderdale who covers old anime like that. It may have been from him that I even learned of YKK.

I would never be able to get into collecting LaserDiscs for various reasons but I tip my hat to you for being able to and helping with preservation, however small.

I'll check out his channel, maybe I will find something I don't know about yet lol.

I don't really collect them, just picked them up over the years for viewing and held onto them ever since. Same with all my VHS tapes and DVDs. It's not really for any sort of "preservation effort" per se, as there are already really clean digital copies of what I have available online and even on streaming platforms in some cases, just that I bought them and used them like any other normal person does. Hopefully they still work after I die, maybe the next generation will have interest to use them (and not just hoard them to sell at auction after being graded at some corrupt auction house like Heritage).

Not necessarily; others have talked about it too. Quest for the Best had an episode on it just a couple weeks ago!

Ex Arm is pretty good, but I am fairly certain it has more total animation frames. Honestly, why even waste the time with so many frames? Twinkle Nora Rock Me! proved peak didnt need all those extra frames, its just waiting for the cult classic revival it deserves.

... Any day now...

Yeah but Twinkle Nora Rock Me! leaves me in way too much suspense while I'm watching it. Who should I be emotionally invested in? I can't tell! With a proper show like Ex-Arm I know that the people who are rendered with janky-looking 3d animation are going to get those models reused in future episodes, whereas the people who are rendered in janky-looking 2d animation are clearly not long for this world.

Yeah I still remember like a dozen years ago watching a Digibro video that was trying to proclaim "your tastes should always be changing!" and I was literally within 2-3 years of their age at the time and was like, "how fucking young are you that you think this is a revolutionary thing to say?"

Like, my love for FMA has only grown over the years as I've matured and am better able to appreciate its themes, and meanwhile I can no longer stand even a single minute of Hetalia. Similarly, I grew up on all the long-running shounen battle anime like DBZ, Naruto, Bleach, etc., but I couldn't bring myself to like Fire Force because I'm not 15 years old anymore (though I will admit HeroAca is a guilty pleasure of mine).
