So do other people, are people with money the only ones allowed to be informed?
Tying economic prosperity to access to information is how you get this shithole the world is turning into.
Edit: Since I've decided not to wait for you to spoonfeed your opinions on this matter I'll just dump my thoughts here:
Your assertion is that journalists have to eat, which is true. It's true of any living being. That's not the main point towards dystopia, the point is that they have to spend a non-insignificant amount of time selling themselves off to the highest bidder just to do so. They can't just be educators and informers, they also have to be salespeople.
That's what's dystopian. It's what's largely dystopian about the nature of life right now. Everyone has to find a way to sell themselves just to get by, because we can't just exist. We have to prove our worth by showing just how much money we can make. To the detriment of the kinds of things we want to provide to others.
A journalist will prioritize what makes money, not what makes the world better, because that's what puts food on their plate and a roof over their head. And that's a tragedy.
Valid points. Lots of critical professions should be divorced from capitalism (looking at you, healthcare), and obviously hustle culture sucks.
