Idk man, now days with Zohran in NYC vs Karen Bass I think I'd have to go New York. Illinois has a better governor too
NYC definitely is pretty based right now
Illinois has a billionaire for a governor. He cares about power, not people.
Pritzker was expected to be a horrible governor by me, but of all of the (many many) people who hate him, I've only heard lies from the right or that he's rich from the left. He's done quite a few positive things for the state, including very early on cannabis legalization and decriminalization. In this instance the comparison was to Gavin, who routinely pivots rightward and seems to have a vendetta against homeless people. As I mentioned, I expected him to suck because he's rich, but he's served a full term just about without anything bad to say about him besides the initial suspicion.
I would prefer zohran to him, but as governors go across the US there's not a whole lot of winners. Pritzker at least has a good record of legislation signing and executive orders. Bashear is good too but wasn't brought up because his state is a nightmare of Republican politics' making. Walz was very good, but I think ICE and the failed presidential run broke his spirit.
He's been vocal against Trump since the start. And not too many other states can say the same about their politicians.
He's also working to stop data centers. So that's something.
Yeah, I expected so much more hollow consultant language from his State of the State address, but his closing remarks were very much needed at the time he said them, and was the first time I had seen an establishment person make the obvious connection to fascism publicly, with sorrow, and with receipts from history.
