I was always pretty bad at chess. I usually got "hyped" for 2-3 days (sometimes longer) and then immediately dropped it afterwards. My elo on chess com is now 300-something and I haven't played in few years
I also disliked chess because in my high school there was an extremely competetive atmosphere around it and I felt discouraged to join
I always hated chess players, especially male ones, I enjoy the game but a lot of them that I met irl are redpill assholes masculinists
Male Chess Players had a massive overlap with Teen Libertarians and Edgy Atheists in my school.
yea exactly, but generally the people I met at school were more into "destroying" others than actually teaching you how to play
