How do I get people to see my community or know if people can find it? I was on Reddit for 2 days starting a community and got banned for NO REASON. I saw this was the closest thing to it so wanted to start here until Reddit (if they ever bother) checks my appeal.

Wow, what a great idea. Does it work for PieFed, too? (I don't seem to see PF-based instances listed)

Also wondering if anyone cared whether older communities were added to the list. Even 3+yr old communities (I run one) probably aren't fully federated yet.

Instances choose to opt in by having an account on their instance subscribe to all applicable instances; those that opt in (including several Piefed instances) are on this list. Some instances also deliberately opt out.

Thanks, seems to have worked well! And I'm thinking this tool will help a community's posts better show up in ALL streams, which can be a surprisingly helpful way to get eyes on it IME.

I also see some pretty major instances seem to have opted out, such as Lemmy.World, Sh.Itjust.Works, Europe.Pub and Quokk.Au. That's disappointing, and I wonder what their deal is?

Instances not on the 'Enabled' list can still have their communities added, they just won't be automatically added. I presume instances on the 'Disabled' list can't have their instances added.

Hmm. Just added a couple Lemmy.World communities and they worked fine, even though that instance seems to be on the "NOT ALLOWED" list. And yet after a lookup, it's not actually disabled. Okay.
