yeah but what about the power-from-total-resources ratio? i.e. other reactors cost more than just silicon and lead

let's do the math to produce 1k total power output:

  • small solar panels produce roughly 1 power per silicon under full sunlight, so maybe 0.5 power per silicon per day/night cycle. so you need 2k silicon, roughly 5k lead and 1k copper (small batteries included).
  • with RTGs, you'd need about 4, which cost 300 silicon, 400 lead, 200 thorium, 300 plastanium and 100 phase fabric. so yes, they are cheaper in silicon and lead content, but you need plastanium and phase fabric, which are much more tedious to produce than silicon. so if you consider the total cost of all resources combined together (i.e. how many machines do you need to produce all the stuff, and for how long do these have to operate), then they're actually about equal, i'd say.

(considering that 1 phase weaver produces 0.5 phase fabric per second but 1 silicon crucible produces about 5 silicon per second, so 1 phase fabric = 10 silicon.)
