"Through technology, man can do anything he needs to do." -- Buckminster Fuller
Vibe coding gives people tools that can turn ideas into working software without waiting for permission, credentials, or institutional support. The future should be built by the people who will live in it.
Rule 1: No serial downvoting. Let's keep Lemmy positive. Automod on duty.
Rule 2: Be civil. Play nice. And If you don't like it here, just find a different community.
Rule 3: Weird that I have to make this an actual rule, but here we go: No advocating violence or murder.

Agreed. I vibe code very simple projects for my personal use. Projects I wouldn't have paid anyone to program for me, and I wouldn't have paid for any of them. They have been mostly personal training, run tracking, raspberry pi apps, etc. All personalized just for me.
Vibe coding actually inspired me to learn real programming just for fun. But I wouldn't want to design a consumer app or anything of that nature anyway. Too complicated and I don't like putting up with people's bullshit.
I do think AI will get good enough to do ultra complex apps though. In a very short while. Which is why many programmers feel threatened. I get it and sympathize. Meh, that's the way society advances. Plenty of people in other industries have had to worry about tech advances replacing them. We all just move on. It still sucks, but it sucked for us too.
Ultimately I think AI has more positives than negatives. I'm well aware that most of Lemmy disagrees! lol
