I didn't know about slavery in Ireland. Is there's any limit to the depravity of the West?
Surprised you never heard of it.
Fascists love to bring it up as proof of White people being enslaved to downplay the racial character of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade, same as with Indigenous slave owners. Of course it doesn't work because the Irish weren't viewed as White until relatively recently (or in the case of Northern Ireland still aren't) but fascists don't know anything and accuracy isn't the point.
White can be a ideology and transcend skin colours. Nazis needed also terms to dehumanise people of other countries. I would gladly read more about the historic situation of Ireland.
Neither was the Barbary slave trade pretty, since most of the victims went to be enslaved oarsmen not vineyard workers. Bur I mean indentured servitude isn’t like chattel slavery and outside of the anglosphere the Irish were seen as white mostly.
Romans enslaved Ireland for their labor, depopulating the island for to serve on british plantations.
Then the British deported many Irish to the Caribbean and/or pressed them into indentured service, that’s why there is like Irish influence in Patois and Bajan creole.
Of course the miserable economic conditions intentionally fostered meant that Irish people became a main source of cheap industrial manpower for the factories of the US and UK.
