I loved this read. I didn’t realize that I too was westernizing Greek culture in my understanding of history. But the more I read the more it clicked how wrong that notion was

It's definitely not something that is easy to recognize given how the Western mythos so heavily appropriates a Hellenic veneer while having little in common with the people or civilization itself, especially not since Western Hegemony means cultural domination and thus the Western imagination of Greece is going to supplant understanding of the real thing.
