The battery is visibly expanding, and that's what made it pop off. Thankfully the battery made it easier for it to be replaced.
The OG apple watches did that all the time so I replaced probably 10 different ones for friends and family.
Oh shit, yeah I'll see if I can get a replacement battery if it's cheap enough. Thank you
