Depending on the wood it will probably take several years for the wood to rot out, did you till the soil underneath with a shovel? Soil doesn't look too terrible with all that undergrowth next to it.
Yeah I had to clear the spot cause it had some invasives but the soil quality was still pretty poor, and this is honestly later then we should of planted them. So I'm hoping to get the roots established for the winter.
The wood should last, but it seems like you need the new growth from the base of the plant each year for the berries themselves. So I'm worried the wood might restrict that in the future. But it might not. I haven't done raspberries before so all I have to go off of is some book stuff and knowledge from other things.
Make sure to give them a trellis
Ah yeah that is the next thing we need to do.
