Most former Warsaw Pact countries now in the EU (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Czechia, Slovakia) all had a cultural renaissance after the fall of the Russian dominated USSR, in the EU culture was allowed to be practiced freely.
