They also capture your car’s make, model, color, and identifying features such as dents, roof racks, and bumper stickers, often turning these into searchable data points. These cameras collect data on millions of vehicles—regardless of whether the driver is suspected of a crime. Green energy is just economics now. Even ticket vending machines need certified electric meters to connect to the mains on someone else's property so it's easier to give them a tiny panel and battery instead.
It's beyond economics. Solar panels keep working when the grid is down. Give it a battery that can run it for a week and a solar panel that can refill it in a week or two and it's only going down when it's physically downed.
