I can be surrounded by people I truly care about and I still can't wait to get out of there. As I grow older, my social battery runs lower and lower. I'm now at the point where I'm mental exhausted a week before and a week after a social event. That means that, let's say 8 hours, of socializing takes up 14 days of my life. A quick cost/benefit analysis will reveal that it has to be a very special event before I'd even consider showing up.
