Here the McDonald's is a sit down restaurant. The government said they were too expensive for a food chain that has their restaurant built to make you stay as short as possible. They were given a choice: make it cheaper or improve the restaurant. It was more profitable to completely remodel all buildings. Now they have ergonomic chairs and calming colors for the eyes. So now you can relax while eating your way to expensive junk. Same with Burger King etc. For the same money you can get a healthy and tasteful meal. The biggest burger you can get here is almost as big as the smallest burger in the US. It's about 9 or 10 euros. A regular burger is a bit over 2 euros but that's 3 bites, they fit in your handpalm. For 10 euros I can cook a tasty meal for 4 to 5 people with fresh vegitables.
