Yes, it has several meanings depending on the context. Used in the derogatory manner the other commenter used it in is nowadays typically reserved for American political discourse referring to social liberals. It can be used in the economic sense too but in general discourse this would not be the common modern interpretation of calling someone a liberal, Adam Smith has not been around for 100s of years now and terms change.
You appear to understand what the word means but you don't understand how the word is used. I am sure you are not a native English speaker or do not speak the language at a high level.
You are a liberal, as are the Conservatives in America. You are both center right to far right on the global political spectrum and your idealogies are bloodthirsty and imperialist.
