I don't think hitting is under represented AT ALL on the internet. 20 years ago you would only see that if you followed BDSM links. Now it's everywhere.
oh yeah my point was that things that can't really be done IRL because of physical/legal/ethical limitations tend to be "overrepresented" (the amount of material seems to me to be more prevalent than the number of people that seem to be into it) as a function of the fact that such things can't be performed IRL therefore virtual spaces are the only outlet
whereas you can go to a bdsm club and hit people IRL, so the internet is only one of at least two valid outlets for expressing it
the amount of porn featuring impact play never seemed to me to be overrepresented on the internet, but now that I'm thinking about it I'm a pretty biased person to be evaluating that, because I've been in the bdsm community most of my adult life lol
