I assume it's by first achieving a sort of global cultural hegemony and then generating a weird cult of personality around assholes with big personas, so you can take people like Steve Jobs, who didn't build any computers himself, Mark Zuckerberg, who started out creating a site to rate the attractiveness of girls at his college and Elon Musk, who wasn't born in America and has invented jack shit, and call them great inventors and everyone else just goes along with it.
That answer probably wouldn't go down well in an exam though lol.
