This was a really interested game! The crossword overlap made it much easier than Wordle to guess all the words, but then I had a real struggle trying to figure out in what order to complete swaps. Is there a best way to play by maximizing mutual swaps (where both letters, when swapped, end up in the right place)?

There's a similar cutsie version of this with an extra row https://www.merriam-webster.com/games/reunion

Oh, this is cute! I think I've played something similar on Board Games Arena. Thank you!

You seem to have it figured out! But if you want a good rule of thumb, you can swap any single letter to its rightful place without worrying about double swaps. So, in today's game (1603) there is one M and one K and you can put those where they go when you figure it out. It will open up more double swaps down the road.

I think I misunderstoodβ€”I just tried this with today's puzzle, swapping each letter into its rightful place without worrying about double swaps, but only got two stars. Does single letter mean letters that only appear on the board once? Will try again with some from the archives :)

Yes, so today (1606) it's Y, R and even the H, since the puzzle already has the second H in the right place. You can single swap those when you know where they go.

And as an example, I had to wait to place the Os since there are 2. Both Os ended up as double swaps. Good luck!
